When you hear the words yeast infection, most of the time you think female problem down below. But that’s not always the case. Yeast infections can also affect the skin on the entire body. No need to cringe at that thought, it’s always there. Yeast is a natural part of the skin and helps to keep it healthy and a yeast infection on the skin is just an overgrowth of that very same yeast.

Tinea Versicolor, also known as ringworm, is a yeast infection of the skin. The symptoms of this condition are red scaly patches of skin on the trunk, under the breasts and armpits and possibly the back. It can be itchy, red and even sore at times. This type of yeast infection does not cause discharge.

Yeast infection on the skin is caused by excess moisture, sweating and not drying the skin completely after showering or swimming. Make sure to wear light cotton clothing, dry skin completely and watch intake of carbohydrates and sugars.
